In the Solar PPA model for Distributed Generation projects, the site host does not own the solar system but buys the electricity from the owner of the system. The PPA is based on electricity produced by the system. It can vary in duration from 15 to 20 years with buyout options. The electricity is purchased by the user at a lower rate than utility rate over time with a favorable escalation clause. Solar leases are tailored to the customer’s needs and goals and include Capital Lease, Tax Lease and Operating Lease.
